One of the greatest challenges today is treatment of type 2 diabetes. One reason is the dramatically increasing number of people with type 2 diabetes. On the other hand it is a complex metabolic disease including more factors than only blood glucose.
Another challenge is the early diagnosis and beginning of the therapy. This is difficult due to the fact that many patients suffer from any symptoms in the early phase.
The more it is important to teach people about complications which could lead to human pain but also causes high costs for everybody of us.
All late complications of diabetes have on thing in common – the primary damage is caused at the blood vessels. Depending on the site one can distinguish between damage at big blood vessels (macroangiopathy) and small blood vessels (microangiopathy).
